I know this may seem like a stupid question, but I am curious on your thoughts as to why the government would want to print more money in general, knowing that it would not help with inflation?

Short term there is liquidity issues that needs to be solved, long term the system doesn't work but nobody wants to be the one killing it

Imagine the economy as a car.

Printing Money = Stepping your foot on the Gas.
Interest Rates = Brakes.

The government in the last a couple of month has its feet on both pedals at the same time and basically doing a burn out.

Monetize the debt.
Pay off loans using money with equal face value, but less buying power.
In other words robbing and raiding your savings and investments.
Your ( insert amount here) is now worth half of what it was (insert time frame here) ago.
While the money they spent that time ago, gets paid off with the value you lost.

Exorbitant privledged be exorbitant.

If I had a money printer it would be very bad for everyone other than myself. Myself included in the end.
